Little Princess
Wednesday, August 16th, 2006Nabila often asked me what’s the meaning of her name. I said, "in Arabic it’s means noble or princess. In some website it’s also means intelligent". She is ecstatic to hear my explanation. She said, "alright then…, I won’t change my name". "Name is a du’a. Every time someone call you your name.., it’s a du’a for you. That’s why we have to give good names to our kids", I continued. Nabila said to me.., "thanks mama, for giving me a nice name..".
So that’s how it’s started. Ever since she knows the meaning of her name, she keep telling me that she wants to be a real princess, with all attributes that comes with it. You know, like live in castle, crown, etc. I told her.., "you are my princess, Nabila. Every girl is a princess to their parents", I said. "No, I want to be a real princess", she said. "You have to marry a real prince, then.", I replied. "Is there any real prince, mama?". They do exist, I said. Some Arabs nations have princes, I continued. " I will marry one of them". she said.
One day I was reading the meaning of suratul Haqqah with my children. We found interesting promise of being in jannah. Nabila is so happy. She said, "that’s mean I still can live in a castle even if I don’t marry a real prince". Oh Nabila.., InsyaAllah, you will find your prince charming one day…just like in your fairytale………
